In our job helping people with physical or intellectual disabilities, we often see parents of the disabled child left their wealth to the relatives after they passed away, hoping relatives could continue to provide care to the child. However due to various reasons, parent's left-behind wealth often was not managed properly. Disabled child did not receive intended care.
Actually, this kind of situation could be prevented. Through a trust, parents can plan out how their wealth will be used. Through trustee's professional management and trust supervisor’s supervises, disabled child can still have the financial security and a great standard of living even when parents are no longer with him/her.

What should I do if my child has sexual needs? What if my child touches another person and that people see it as sexual harassment? My child touches his/her own private area in public, what is happening? These are the issues troubling parents the most. What should parents do to resolve these issues?
Syin-Lu is aware that people with intellectual disabilities have needs on relevant topics. Starting in 2006 the organization began to cultivate professional social workers in related service. In 2009, it founded GRD (Gender Research Development Team). The team is committed to provide sex education counseling and related service to people with ID, their parents, and other professionals. Its theories and practical experiences have been published into numerous books and pamphlet.

Syin-Lu provide internships to social work-related students. So they can understand the connotation of disability services, participate in the service, learn expert knowledge, understand related policies and welfare issues etc. Through internships, they can confirm theories and have hand-on practices. The program aims to cultivate social workers.
